Nadia Comaneci - (born on 12 November 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti, Romania), Romanian gymnast. The first person in history to score a 10 for competing in the Olympics. Comaneci was spotted by Bela Karolyi, later to be the Romanian gymnastics instructor when she was just six years old. At first, she competed in the junior national championships of Romania in the year 1969, she finished 13th. And in 1970, won. Her first ever international competition in 1972, she came out on top having won three golds. At her first competitive event in senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva from Russia took home five gold medals, as well as one silver. She was the first woman ever to successfully perform reverse double saltos when dismounting from an uneven parallel bar.
