Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her first roles on Broadway include in the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. The Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director has spent most of her career working with well-known directors and actors on screen and in television. Ashford will be next seen alongside Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently working on the film of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust starring Sarah Paulson. The film will stream through Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford will be returning in 2023 and will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. The team behind Hamilton director Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the control of the production. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the national crisis that swept into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment hearings in over 100 years. She was in two seasons on the hit CBS comedy B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Additional Broadway credits for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received an Tony Award nomination. She was born and grew up in Denver Ashford is now dividing the time in Los Angeles and New York.
