Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but weak characters, is among of the most acclaimed American actors of the present. Her mother was a single, unmarried mother who worked as a nursing assistant. Linney became interested in theatre during the time spent in the summer by her famous father. She was a student of acting at Brown University, and later in Juilliard School. Beginning her career at the Broadway shortly after her graduation, she debuted in film within two years. She also appeared on TV within a year. Since then, she has been in numerous films as well as stage and television productions. Over the course of her career, she won numerous awards including two Golden Globe Awards. However, in spite of all the awards she has received the theatre is still her primary passion and she has continued to appear both on screen and on stage.
